Trees For Cities

Who are Trees For Cities?
Trees for Cities is an independent charity working to improve the environment in urban areas by involving local people in community tree planting, training and landscaping projects.

They manage projects across London, in Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and Reading as well as internationally in Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Ica, Peru. All of their community greening projects are supported by extensive community consultation and involvement programmes that incorporate local residents, schools and community groups.

As well as educating local people about our projects, in London they also run a series of horticulture, arboriculture and woodland management courses specialising in developing and up-skilling the long-term unemployed.

Festival Republic and Trees for Cities

Festival Republic have been supporting Trees for Cities’ projects in the UK and further afield since 2006. Festival Republic fund planting projects in Bristol, Leeds, London and Manchester, as well supporting our greening activities abroad, including Nairobi in Kenya and Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa, where young people are employed to care for the trees they plant and fruit from the trees is sold to generate income for the project.
